    training
Okay - This is a bit of a rant so I apologize. I just want to say how much I hate training. I am so sick of putting together the training classes for work it's not even funny. Just for fun - why don't you try setting up training for 350 returning and new staff in a department that you have worked in for all of 3 months and with a boss (who I love) but who doesn't exactly talk your ear off or give you the best direction about things but then is not entirley pleased with things. Or when you have a coworker who goes on and on about how it would be great to have the new hires at the same time as the returning staff so that's what you do but then she second quesses everything you spent tons of time working on but doesn't offer to help anything at all besides teaching her class.

    AGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!

I'm so sick of it and I want it over as quickly as possible. It is driving me nuts and I am feeling a little defeated at every turn. I feel like my lan is disappointing people but it's not like they jumped up to help or gave much constructive criticsm or anything. My boss just tells me to make sure to ask for help but I don't know what help I should be asking for? Things seem to be going okay on my end but apparently I'm missing something and it's is something they want me to figure out on my own. I'm not going to be offended if things don't work out the best or they have thoughts on how to make it better - I just want to know what it is now rather than a year from know when we have to start this up again.

For god's sake!! I'm still learning and I need your help to do that! Don't just stare at me then say "OK, whatever".

    UGGGGGHHHH

    I'm done now. thank you.

    Sleep tight, Jedd
For those few friends who read this journal who haven't heard already, Our sweet goofy pup, Jedd, lost his battle with Cancer this past Thursday. The cancer had gotten very aggressive and was attacking his bone marrow as well. We made the decision to stop his suffering and help him pass on. We were there with him and are glad we made that choice.

Thank you to all those who read this journal and all our friends for their hugs and support.

    Life is great!
So yesterday was fun. Jason had to go in for an emergency root cancal in the afternoon. We had to take Jedd to the vet because he looked and was acting a little weird. Turns out he had to get a checmo drug via IV because it looks like the cancer is in his bone marrow as well; lymphoma and leukemia - fabulous. And then after being woken up around 1 am to take Jedd out I noticed some kids walking away from Jason's car. Turns out Jason, in his novicaine induced fog, left the door unlocked and the kids, being shits that they are, stole the faceplate for his stereo. I love making police reports at 1:30 in the morning.

    Life is so magical...

    My baby boy, bubba
So many of you may know already but this week has been a trying one for the Speicher household. This past Monday night, Jason and I took our Mighty Coonhound, Jedd, to the Emergency Vet because he was breathing very heavy and his eyes were swollen and bloodshot. We also noticed that the glands under his neck were extremely swollen. they found that most of Jedd's lymph nodes were swollen and the vet decided to do an aspirate of the gland to determine the reason for the swelling. He said it could be either a tick bourne infection or something more serious. Jedd had been just getting over ear infections and the like so we figured it was going to be the tick infection.

We'll we were wrong. Our poor Bubba has cancer. Lymphoma to be exact. He's only 3 years old so this was a bit of a shock. Normally it is developed in years 5 - 10. After a day or so of being extremely upset, Jason and I talked to the vet and got a gameplan. there are a few things we could do. 1) Give him nothing and he'll have about 2 months. 2) give him a steroid and he'll have about 4 -6 months. 3) Give him a steroid and another drug and he'll have about 6-8 months. or 4) start a chemotherapy regime and he'll have on average 18-24 months (and with his age and health we should hopefully expect longer). Guess which one we went with.

Option 4 - thanks in large part to the Pet Insurance we have on the dog. We extended the policy that the pound gave us when we adopted him and they pay 70% on the costs. So the 6 month $2000+ chemo will, if all goes as expected, cost us about $150 a month. Yeah insurance!!! And they'll pay as we go, whenever I submit my receipts/bills. YEAH!!!

He started a chemo treatment on Friday. His first wasn't the full course because his white blood cells were low due to the ear infections but he's already looking a bunch better. His eyes are clearer and the swelling is going down. He does have times of heavy panting but nothing like earlier in the week and I think it more due to heat than sickness. He keeps laying down on the Air conditioning vent. He's drowsy a lot but doing good. Hopefully we'll have even more success with the full treatment this week. they say that you van tell alot about how long the dog will be in remission by how it responds to the first month of treatment. Cross your fingers.

So I am sitting at my computer on thsi easter day and thought I would expound a little about my home and neighborhood.

So I know the joke is that I live in "da hood" and to a point that is true. But I have to say it is a great little neighborhood and one that is trying hard to be a family friendly and inviting place to live for anyone and everyone. The people are friendly and we haven't had any trouble since moving here.

The one thing I never expected before me moved to a downtown location was how quite it is. It seriously is one of the quietest places I have ever lived and that's saying something since we have a fire station down the street, live near the airport and are nestled between 2 major highways.

This all brings me to my reason for posting today. It is my favorite time of the day at my house. 6 pm. Why you ask? Well lat me paint a picture. It is currently a lovely early spring day. The sun is shining and it's about 70 degrees out with a nice lite breezy so we have the windows open. It's Easter so people are milling about joking with each other and the house that backs up to our side yard is having a barbeque. Jason is making a Pot Roast downstairs that smells divine and I am sitting next to the window in the extra room typing this entry.

The loveliest thing about this and the reason why I love 6 pm around here is that the church at the end of the street has a clarion (bells) that plays everyday at 6 pm. It doesn't just play one song or a small chime though. It plays about 15 minutes of lovely choral music and the sound just wafts through the air like the sound of an ice cream truck 2 streets over. It's enough that you can follow the song if you know it or just enjoy the melody if you don't.

So this is 6 pm around our house in "da hood."

    Big Surprise...
    you are lavender
    #E6E6FA

Your dominant hue is blue, making you a good friend who people love and trust. You're good in social situations and want to fit in. Just be careful not to compromise who you are to make them happy.

Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.

    Need Help - Ideas!!
Okay guys. WE are having a Halloween party at work and I want to be in the spirit and dress up for the costume contest BUT I don't know what to do. I'm treading the fine line of wanting to be fun and wear a costume and not wanting to look silly if no one else dresses up. I'm not wearing my ren faire costume because I work with mostly guys and don't really think faire cleavage is appropriate for the office.

So I need suggestions of fun, easy and not extravagant costumes. Any thoughts?
